Outlier Gifts was founded by Matthew Blythe — a photographer turned digital artist — creating bold, meaningful artwork inspired by South Devon and the coastline I’ve always called home.

Every piece starts with a real scene, a strong idea, and a lot of screen time. I build my artwork in layers, shaping light, colour and detail until it feels right. Some designs come together quickly; others take hours of refining, zooming in, tweaking, and rebuilding sections until the final image has that “you can almost feel the sea air” look. Nothing is rushed, and nothing is mass-produced.

Today, we supply shops with our collections, take on custom commissions, and share our work online with a growing community of customers who want something different on their walls — work that feels personal, local, and made with care.

Our next step? Opening our own store as soon as the right space becomes available — so we can bring even more creativity into the heart of the community.

Every print is produced by me, in-house, using professional Canon pigment inks on gallery-grade Fototspeed Lustre 310gsm paper. This means you’re not just buying a poster — you’re investing in a piece designed to last for decades without fading. Each order is personally checked, packaged with care, and shipped free within the UK.

Why I Do This

I started to combine my passion for photography, local heritage, and visual storytelling to find a new way to connect with people, share my love of the area and produce something unique. The South Devon coast has always been home to me, and through my work I aim to capture not just the scenery, but the memories and emotions tied to it — seaside holidays, sunsets on the beach, or simply the feeling of coming home.
